This is my first time reading Dane Hatchell's work. THE DINOSAUR BATTLE OF NEW ORLEANS is a pretty good book. I am familiar with New Orleans, and it felt good to visit some of the places in the Crescent City. The best part is getting to see dinosaurs wreak havoc on the tourists and the local population.
There are several things I liked about this one, and there are also some things I didn't like. I liked the time travel aspect, and of course the dinosaurs. I also liked the action. The blood and deaths were epic, but the action was diluted with politics. The protestors really slowed this read down for me. I don't like politics in my horror. I like political undertones, not political overtones.
The characters were disposable; they weren't that memorable. The dialogue was good. The storyline was a bit choppy due to the political protests. I didn't care for those parts, but the other parts were great.
All in all, this book was decent. Even though I may not have liked everything about the book, I would read it again. Dane Hatchell is a good writer, and I think he has a bright future in the horror genre. I love creature features and this book could definitely be a B-Movie. I'm going to read Dane Hatchell's future work.
