I really dug this book! The cover looks great and I think the title is accurate for this tale. I felt empathy for the father. I was intrigued by the wife. To be honest, the wife's claims got me hooked. I just had to find out more.
Daniel Tanner has lost his little boy. His wife leaves him. His life is quickly spinning out of control. One strange phone call changes everything. He dives headfirst into a world of monsters–the kind that hides in your closet and under your bed. Daniel joins a group of hunters who hunt the wicked ones.
I really enjoyed this book! I finished it in two sittings. I would've finished it in one sitting, but work got in the way. The characters are solid. The author gives them just enough depth for you to invest in them. The story is smooth. There is some noticeable repetition when a demon appears–this takes away from the story a little bit. The demonology is splendid, too. I still can't get over what the wife says at the beginning of the book. It keeps you turning the page, making you think about her words. This is my first time reading J.Z. Foster, but it won't be the last!
